Memorable Events at Davis Station - 1966
In April 1966 at Davis Station, Tan Son Nhut Airbase. The city of Saigon had been off-limits for two weeks. When the order was lifted, every G.I. and Airman who could crawl was downtown on Tu Do Street. 15 minutes after curfew that night, over 200 incoming mortars started hitting the "secure" airbase.
The 3rd RRU had one KIA that night. A mortar shell had landed within the compound killing SSgt Daugherty.
