Photos courtesy of the McGibney kids, Shawn and Connie

As you know, Phil lost his home during Hurricane Katrina. Phil had a very extensive collection of orders, photos and other items collected during his years of service. Unfortunately almost everything was lost in the storm. Connie began to contact friends and family in order to try to re-build Phil's vast collection. These are photos of some of the items contributed and collected for Phil with notes from Connie.

"Operation McGibney Memories" was a roaring success. We presented them with everything that had been collected on Tuesday. We had photos of relatives taken in the 1940's, pictures from when my dad first joined the Army and in Vietnam, pictures of when Mom and Dad first met, pictures of Shawn and I as kids, copies of uniform patchs, postcards, artwork, retirement gifts recreated by the folks at MIT and even a lighter from the base that dad was stationed at in Germany in 1961. The alumni association from the University that Dad earned his Masters degree from provided a brand new diploma for him. We also told them that many of you are still digging stuff up and to expect to see more goodies. Needless to say Joan and Phil were completely suprised and overwhelmed by all of the treasures that you sent. (I believe I even saw a couple of tears) We would like to thank you from the from the very bottom of our hearts for helping us put these memories together for them. They truely are priceless!
Thank you,
Connie
